Antique original 1880's J.E. Stevens "corresponds town battery" mechanical baseball coin bank. Bank features three african american baseball players with an intricate mechanical action that causes all three players to move with the batter raising his arms, the pitcher moving his arm forward to deliver a coin, and the catcher nodding his head and opening his chest to accept the coin into the bank. 1875 patent date on stopper noted in photos, though these are known to have been first produced in 1888, the paint color scheme corresponds to 1888 examples. Bank measures 9.5" long by 7" tall. Bank is tested in working mechanical condition, though at times the pitcher and catcher need to be manually placed back in their normal positions after the level is pushed. Bank has some paint wear and surface rust and is otherwise in good physical condition and a great candidate for restoration or as is for the natural aged appearance. A rare find!
